About FairWinds
FairWinds was founded by a group of virtual sailors in early 2025 who wanted a modern map-based virtual sailing platform. After 6 months of testing and development, and over 200k virtual nm's sailed, it is the most precise GFS-based, persistent sailing simulation platform ever created.

Our Mission
FairWinds aims to make sailing accessible to everyone, whether you're an experienced sailor or someone who's never set foot on a boat. We believe sailing is a beautiful combination of strategy, skill, and respect for nature's forces.
By providing a realistic navigation and weather simulation experience, we hope to inspire more people to appreciate the art and science of sailing, and perhaps even take to the water themselves.
Technology
FairWinds is built with modern web technologies and runs entirely in your browser. We use real GRIB weather files, WebGL for smooth map rendering, and WebSocket connections for real-time multiplayer racing. While it works great on mobile web, a dedicated mobile app is forthcoming.
The platform is open to the sailing community, and we welcome contributions, feedback, and collaboration.
